There is a thread about judges on the yellow board at this time, although none of the responses deals with my initial question. I would still like to know other peoples thoughts about this.
I was wrong. It is this upcoming Saturday night (actually Sunday morning).
Why is it allowed for lesson teachers and band directors to judge their own students at Region contest? Is this ethical?
I know this may sound fairly basic, but when I was working on learning flute it helped me to make sure that I had all keys completely down. I think that this is a common problem for younger players especially since they are working with smaller hands.

Actually this is a really good point. Something teachers may take for granted.
I may have spoken to soon. I have had more than several miss today and yesterday.
"Lower lip out" has worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you.
I think it is the weekend prior to Halloween.
Update: I decided to buy the Focus. Thanks for the advice.
I am unsure if I am going. If I go then I might be interested.
I can't think of any other forums.
Makes you wonder about your own performing habits.

Scary!
We all need to think about this.
Thanks for the advice guys. Even though the parts may be more expensive I will probably go with a civic.
They do make good points! I hear directors talking about how great Guitar Hero is. It does make you wonder about the future of students and their being able to have the discipline to be "dedicated musicians". You know with the practicing and all.
What is a good car to get that is small and gets around 30mpg? I am thinking about a focus or an older civic. Cheaper the better.
I would not worry about the test. Just take it because I am sure you will pass it. I mean just look around at some of the band directors out there and then tell yourself that if they could pass it then surely you can.

Funny.
I guess I need to brush up on my ear training. I have heard that the ear training portion has got to a number of people who have taken the test.

Economical and popular.
Has anyone on this board taken the certification test to be a band director?
What is on it? What does it cover?
I may be interested. Not sure this early if I will be attending though???
I think something that we as lesson teachers should do and that is to encourage each other to posts on boards like this and to also encourage other teachers to become members of these types of boards or forums. If there were a hundred or more lesson teachers posting on this forum alone, just imagine the number of curious band directors there would be that happen to take an occasional peak. Might open their eyes!
Good question. It is really hard to find quality trios for mixed WW, that are appropriate for middle school and sound good.
What tax forms are you required to submit when you begin to be paid by a district for masterclasses, sectionals, lessons, etc....?
I know other lesson teachers that mail statements. Some take Paypal and even credit card payments. Others seem to just go with the flow.
What is your preferred method? ...and Why?
