Has anyone on this board taken the certification test to be a band director?
What is on it? What does it cover?
I have.
Ear training was the hard part for me. Somewhat rigorous. It is my understanding that the test has become harder than it used to be. I know of some people that have had to retake the test several times before they were able to pass it.

I would not worry about the test. Just take it because I am sure you will pass it. I mean just look around at some of the band directors out there and then tell yourself that if they could pass it then surely you can.
I took it years ago when SBEC was still offering all-level music certificates that were good for life. Not very hard at that time, but I have heard that the test has become harder. I have had several of my former students take it since the test was updated and they have struggled with it.

I guess I need to brush up on my ear training. I have heard that the ear training portion has got to a number of people who have taken the test.
