I have responded to many ads on The Yellow Board and the TMEA website looking for Private Instructors. Some of the Band Directors (a very few) have responded, but more dont even take the time to respond either by email or phone. I find this very rude and making Private Teachers feel like our job is un-important.
Anyone else have any input?

I have experienced this also. I think this has become a routine in the lesson teacher's job now. It is like taking an audition. You have to take a whole bunch before you win a job.
Keep trying and don't get discouraged!

That'll learn 'em.
I dont mind doing an audition at all. I am most concerned with the number of Band Directors that just fail to follow through with return calls.
Its not that I need more students....I teach already in a very nice district and have many students, I am jsut wanting to have something else to do. I thought that teaching in another district might give me more insight as to the other methods of teaching. I use any and all experiences as a "learning experience" for myself as well. I also like to get an input as to what other kids are learning and the speed that they can accomplish a particular goal.
