Rarely in some lessons - the metronome is a necessary evil.

Sometimes it is just to torturous to endure as the teacher.

Just have to know how to use the metronome properly and it will be an advantage.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I think that many people really lack the ability to properly use a metronome during theirown practice /  rehearsal time much less teach with one.

Sometimes I think more harm that good is done when the metronome is being pumped through mega speakers that line the room.

....and just think that marching band is just around the corner.crying

Ever noticed how a lot of the directors that pump the metronome through the speakers talk really obnoxiously loud?  There is one up in Southlake that is like that.  During a normal conversation it is as if he is yelling at you.  Give it a few more years and he probably could be classified as being legally deaf.

Thanks for the laugh!  Come to think of it there is a lot of truth in that statement.

When I am teaching at schools I seldom ever hear other lesson teachers using a metronome in their lessons with the exception of percussion teachers, and even then not all of the percussion teachers use a metronome.
