Clarinet Ensembles

I am new to teaching lessons. I am teaching in several smaller schools North & East of Dallas and I am searching for "playable" class 1 ensembles. Some of the trios and quartets that I have seen are way over the heads of most of the students that I have at the schools that I teach in, but the directors are being very persistent about the kids playing class 1's.

Any suggestions?

Take a drive over to Pender's Music and you will learn a lot about ensembles and solos and will probably be able to answer your own questions.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I will look into it.

You could also take a drive to Pepper's Music in Fort Worth.

Pender's in Denton would be the best choice between the two and probably closer to where you are teaching (Pepper's is somewhat limited on solos and ensembles).  I remember spending quite a bit of time there myself researching music for an independent research class during grad school.  Best time to go and look at the solos and ensembles is Novemeber and December when they seem to be really stocking up.  I use to take a trip to Pender's every Thanksgiving break.

Pepper's is pretty much crap.

No hard feelings.  I just know from personal experience.

Welcome to the board.

I went to Pepper's music once.  I never went back.  I have heard that a number of people have had problems with Peppers.  Not much there in the way of Solos and Ensembles for band instruments.

Thanks to all who recommended Pender's.
